Going off your point about Akinator, I remember how obsessed the internet was when the robotic dogs became popular. People would post videos of these automated machines going through training courses, performing actions, or being challenged in their ability to troubleshoot alone; the challenge often being the robot operator kicking the machine dog over and seeing if it could get back up on its own. With those types of videos specifically, the comments were often full with people calling the dogs cute while they reprimanded the human operator. I see a similar thing happening with AI obsession, as people often make an excuse for AI content if it’s cute, or pulls at the heart strings just enough.

Now typing this out, it does make me wonder how willing humans are to succumb to moral and ethical wrongs if the unethical thing is cute enough.
